Day11 Surrey West to Kent Weald

Many thanks to Enid for sorting us out with late piece of plastic sheeting to lay our bedding last night, it was a very damp and chilly one!

Breakfast with Leaders and children from Bourne Guides who formed the advance party before the girls arrive today. We were very appreciative of the egg and sausage roll and mug of tea.

Called in to say hello to Aldershot Brownies on our way out of Heron's Wey, would love to come back to this beautiful site sometime and linger a little longer, perhaps with some warm sunshine though!

We called into the Outdoor and Camping shop in Frensham on the off chance that they would be able to find us a couple of replacement tent poles but sadly that was not to be, lots of lovely sturdy Outwell tents but none of the lighter Gelerts. Excellent ice creams though - we can recommend stem ginger and mango&cream!

Luckily our drive today is almost from one side of the region to the other and home isn't too far off route so we decided to abandon Bertha to dry out over the chairs in the sitting room - why not, we've been drying other tents out in the sitting room all season - and to pick up our stalwart Outwell tent which will serve us well but just take longer to pitch.

Couple of loads of washing, a bit of a sort out and we'll be on our way to Kent.

Superb service from Amazon who will be giving me a full refund on the tent, no quibble, just apologies that the tent is no longer made. Shame, it was an ideal tent for the trip, very quick and easy to pitch and roomy enough for us to move around with ease.

We've pitched tent number 2, the Outwell, at Kent Weald; it's a great little tent and will serve us well for the rest of the trip. Another great reception from Leaders and Trefoil Guild at a lovely Guide hall with wonderful wooded grounds. Unfortunately the electricity has tripped and the fault can't be found but naturally, guiding always has a plan b and the gas burners have come out of the camp shed to cook our meal!

Another delicious meal, we really are being spoilt by wonderful parties night after night! Power still off in the Guide hall to the consternation of the emergency electrician. However he has managed to ascertain that there is no power coming onto the site so has sent for back up.

Back up has arrived in the form of 3 big white vans. We're presuming that they are about to start digging the road up and that we will be holed in for who knows how long! Great hilarity round the campfire in the dark as we observe the comings and goings.
