Back on the road again, M20 and M25, we know them pretty well! Local traffic news warned us of very slow moving traffic clockwise on most of our stretch of the M25 so we've stopped off at Clacket Lane for coffee and the papers.
It's good to get to read the Olympic news, we've of course heard of Team GB's sporting triumphs from our hosts, on the radio and via Twitter but it's good to read some of the detail. I was told today that they are being dubbed 'The Crying Games' due to the emotion of our sporting heroes - well reading about the Brownlee brothers certainly brought tears to my eyes, what an incredible pair of athletes and what an extraordinary feat that race was for them both. I'm so proud to be British, so proud of our country, of my home city and of course of all the competitors.
I remember watching the lunchtime news tv coverage when we won the bid to host the Games and was very keen to sign up to volunteer in whatever capacity I could, although the actual sporting bit didn't really interest me. This will definitely be a very special 'summer to remember' with my own personal challenge during Games Time and volunteering as a London Ambassador on the Southbank before the Games and a Games Maker during the Paralympics at Excel.
When I conceived of 'a summer to remember' I wanted to 'do my best' to embrace the 7 Olympic and Paralympic values in some way. I shall start reflecting in the next few days as to whether I'm going to achieve that aim.

- look at what we spied at the top! Well perhaps it's too small for you to see - 5 white Olympic rings on what looks like scaffolding. Dorking obviously got well and truly into Olympic fever as the cycle race came to Box Hill; the massive cockerel, symbol of Dorking on the A24/25 roundabout is adorned with a red, white and blue scarf and has a massive gold medal around it's neck. Hoped to take a photo but reckoned I'd cause an accident hanging out of the window as I circumnavigated the gyratory!
Hello Surrey East- we're here at a very special campsite, dear to the hearts of the members of London South West, not far from Dorking. The site is looking great, Tent 2 is pitched (16 mins, we'll never achieve the 4 minute record that we attained with Bertha) and we're chilling out in the warm afternoon sun.
Invited to join Horley Trefoil Guild Annual Summer Garden Party in the evening - what a wonderful evening to be in such a beautiful garden, very many thanks to Celeste White and her husband for hosting the evening. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting 70 members of the TG and telling them about our trip. Good to see a Sussex Central contingent too and to recognise some faces from the Mad Hatter's Tea Party last Saturday! Nick got into reporter mode interviewing Oxted members about the Trefoil Guild.
Must check the memory card on the camcorder, Nick reports that it's full. Oh dear we're going to have to do some editing then, that'll be the next challenge!
